Is E.T selling his car on Ebay ?

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Is E.T selling his car on Ebay ?

Certaintely is not E.T UFO but  the design of this car  is out of this world.

Owner Mike Vetter describes the vehicle as a combination of parts including fold up doors reminiscent of a DeLorean, completely hidden wheel rims, a color-changing LED lighting system, “which create a nice light show in the evenings,” underneath the car. It’s even fuel efficient, getting about 26mpg.

“You are looking at a vehicle which receives more pictures taken of it on a daily basis then any Lamborghini or Ferrari,” Vetter writes in the car’s description. ‘The ride is smooth, solid and reliable. Due to the shape of the car the faster you go it seems to get more quiet inside.”

It’s just one of 60 custom cars Vetter says he’s built over the past 20 years but it may be his most unique creation. The car’s unusual casing almost makes it appear to be gliding on air but it actually runs on a fairly standard Chevy engine.

Vetter says he “built this car from scratch,” using fiberglass and carbon. However, the custom creation isn’t cheap. Vetter is asking for a minimum bid of $100,000 for the vehicle.

eBay is planning to add image recognition functionality to its mobile apps.

WorldWide Tech & SCience. Francisco De Jesús.

eBay is planning to add image recognition functionality to its mobile apps, reports the Associated Press.

The tool will allow users to photograph items they are interested in buying and match up the item in question with the same or similar items for sale on the eBay website.

The technology is similar to the Google Goggles smartphone app which uses text in photos and images to search for items.

eBay CEO John Donahoe told reporters at the company’s X-commerce conference this week that the company plans to roll out the feature by the end of the year.

However it isn't clear which apps will get the functionality. The company offers the eBay Mobile app, eBay Fashion and the RedLaser app which is able to scan barcodes of items users are interested in and then compare prices and access reviews.

eBay Mobile is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone platforms, with RedLaser on the iPhone and Android and eBay Fashion only offered for the iPhone.

Samsung Windows 8 "The Build" Dev Tablets Already on eBay

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

The Samsung tablets Microsoft handed out to developers during the BUILD conference are already appearing on eBay, and they aren't cheap.

Last Tuesday during Microsoft's BUILD conference, the company handed out 5,000 Samsung tablets packed with a preview version of Windows 8. Developers cheered at Microsoft’s surprising sweep of generosity, but many seemingly repaid the favor by selling their expensive gifts on eBay at over-bloated prices.

Case in point: this eBay listing shows the Samsung Windows 8 BUILD developer tablet for a current bid of $2,700 USD.

But it's not just a tablet: this bid is for a bundle consisting of the Windows 8 tablet, a dock with USB, HDMI and Ethernet ports, a Bluetooth keyboard, a touch pen, a unique carrying case, and a pre-paid 12-month 2 GB/month AT&T data contract (SIM card not activated).

As for the Samsung tablet, it's similar to the just-announced Samsung Series 7 slate but includes new and improved components including an ambient light sensor, a gyroscope, a Bluetooth LE chip, a Trusted Platform module and NXP's Near Field Communications chip (NFC). The tablet also offers a 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 GB of DDR3 memory, a 64 GB SSD, a Samsung Super PLS 1366 x 768 11.6-inch display, a microSD card slot and more.

"This auction is a brand new, limited edition tablet PC which was given at the Microsoft Build Windows conference in Anaheim on 9/13/2011," reads the auction description. "It is running a pre-release developer preview version of Windows 8 and is a powerful development machine for that upcoming platform."

Other Windows 8 BUILD tablets appearing on eBay aren't quite so expensive, ranging from $1,525 USD to $2,275 USD.
