published April 19, 2021

UPDATE 4/20: This update is yet to be offered to commercial devices in the Release Preview Channel on 21H1. We will make the update available soon.

Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing 21H1 Build 19043.962 (KB5001391) to the Beta Channel for those Insiders who are on 21H1 (Click here for the 21H1 announcement). This update is also available for commercial devices in the Release Preview Channel on 21H1 as mentioned here in this blog post.

This update includes the following improvements:

·         We are rolling out news and interests on the Windows taskbar to Beta and Release Preview rings. This has been available in the Dev Channel, with on-going improvements based on Insider feedback. News and interests on the taskbar make it easy to stay up to date with information at a glance, and we look forward to hearing what you think.

·         We fixed an issue that prevents a site from transitioning out of Microsoft Edge IE Mode when expected.

·         We fixed an issue that fails to remove mandatory profiles completely when you sign out when using the “Delete cached copies of roaming profiles” Group Policy.

·         We fixed an issue that causes blank tiles to appear on the Start menu with names such as “ms-resource:AppName” or “ms-resource:appDisplayName”. These blank tiles represent the installed applications and appear for approximately 15 minutes after updating to a newer version of Windows 10. Installing this update prevents these blank tiles from appearing on the Start menu.

·         We fixed an issue with the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) that prevents an app’s custom candidate window from displaying correctly.

·         We fixed an issue that occurs when you install inventory applications.

·         We fixed an issue that includes kernel mode rules for .NET applications in Windows Defender Application Control policies. As a result, the generated policies are significantly larger than necessary.

·         We fixed an issue that causes devices to fail Device Health Attestation.

·         We fixed an issue that turns off S Mode when you enable System Guard Secure Launch on a system running Windows 10 in S Mode.

·         We fixed an issue that causes lsass.exe memory usage to grow until the system becomes unusable. This occurs when Transport Layer Security (TLS) resumes a session.

·         We fixed an issue with a race condition between Task Scheduler and the Workstation Service. As a result, users cannot automatically join a hybrid Azure Active Directory (AAD) domain and error 0x80070490 is generated.

·         We fixed an issue that causes Azure Active Directory authentication to fail after signing in on Windows Virtual Desktop machines.

·         We fixed an issue that causes AAD Work Accounts to unexpectedly disappear from certain apps such Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Office.

·         We fixed an issue with a partial Service Connection Point (SCP) configuration that causes dsregcmd.exe to stop working. This issue occurs because of a case-sensitive domain ID name comparison that occurs when joining a hybrid Azure Active Directory domain using single sign-on (SSO).

·         We fixed an issue that accidently triggers hybrid AAD joining when the Group Policy “Register domain-joined computers as devices” is set to DISABLED. For more information, see Post configuration tasks for Hybrid Azure AD join.

·         We added the ability to adjust the amount of idle time before a headset goes to sleep in the Settings app for Windows Mixed Reality.

·         We fixed an issue that might generate a stop error when Docker containers run with process isolation.

·         We fixed an issue that causes automatic enrollment and certificate retrieval to fail with the error, “The parameter is incorrect.”

·         We fixed an issue that might cause Microsoft Defender Application Guard virtual machines to stop responding when Microsoft Defender Application Guard for Office opens a document. This issue might occur on some devices or in drivers that utilize GPU Hardware Accelerated Scheduling.

·         We fixed an issue that prevents some media players from playing content on hybrid devices that are running with dGPU on iGPU displays.

·         We fixed an issue with race conditions that cause high CPU usage. As a result, the system stops working and deadlocks occur.

·         We fixed an issue with a deadlock in the New Technology File System (NTFS).

·         We fixed an issue that causes DWM.exe to stop working in some cases.

·         We fixed an issue that might prevent an application screen from working when using a Remote Desktop ActiveX control that is embedded in an HTML page.

·         We improved the Windows Server Storage Migration Service by:

·         Adding support for migration from NetApp FAS arrays to Windows Servers and clusters.

·         Resolving multiple issues and improving reliability.

·         For more information, see Storage Migration Service overview.

Thanks,
The Windows Insider Program Team

March 13, 2018—KB4088776 (OS Build 16299.309)
Applies to: Windows 10 version 1709.

Improvements and fixes.

This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

Addresses issue where Internet Explorer stops working when using F12-based developer tools.
Addresses issue with printing XML documents with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.

Updates legacy Document Mode cell visibility in Internet Explorer.

Addresses issue with pinch and zoom gestures on some hardware in Internet Explorer.

Addresses issue where Internet Explorer is unresponsive in certain scenarios when a Browser Helper Object is installed.

Addresses issue to prevent media and other applications from becoming unresponsive or failing when upgrading graphics drivers.

Addresses issue where customers receive "Check your account, you don't own this content” errors when attempting to play or install owned content. This issue can also result in customers getting kicked out of a game in the middle of play.

Addresses issue where, after installing KB4056892,KB4073291, KB4058258, KB4077675, or KB4074588 on a server, you may not be able to access SMB shared files in directory junction points or volume mount points hosted on that server. The error is "ERROR_INVALID_REPARSE_DATA”.

As a result, editing some group policies using GPMC or AGPM 4.0 may fail with the error "The data present in the reparse point buffer is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80071128)".

Addresses issue where an AD FS server issue causes the WID AD FS database to become unusable after a restart. This might prevent the AD FS service from starting.

Addresses issue where, after installing KB4090913, the Mixed Reality Portal may fail to initialize. This results in an “SXXXXXXX-X” error or a “We couldn’t download the Windows Mixed Reality Software” message may appear after the software is successfully downloaded.

Due to recent work with our antivirus (AV) partners, AV software has now reached a sustained level of broad compatibility with Windows updates. After analyzing the available data, we’re lifting the AV compatibility check for the March 2018 Windows security updates for supported Windows 10 devices through Windows Update. We’ll continue to require that AV software be compatible. Devices with known AV driver compatibility problems will be blocked from updates. We recommend that customers check installed AV software compatibility with their AV provider.

Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Desktop Bridge, Windows Kernel, Windows Shell, Windows MSXML, Device Guard, Windows Hyper-V, Windows Installer, and the Microsoft Scripting Engine.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, see the Security Update Guide.

How to get this update.

This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update. To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

Important When installing both the SSU and the LCU updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog, install the SSU before installing the LCU.

Windows 10 Actualizaciòn KB4088776 de Marzo 2018: Mejoras y Correciones.

Image result for windows 10 actualizacion KB4088776

13 de marzo de 2018: KB4088776 (compilación del SO 16299.309)

Mejoras y correcciones

Palm vein scanning is coming to Windows 10. Video.

Fujitsu has unveiled the latest unlocking method for Windows 10: palm vein recognition.

Fujitsu has been working on this kind of technology for more than a decade, but it's now partnered with Microsoft to offer palm vein scanning as part of the Windows Hello suite of security measures – that's the tech that lets you log into Windows 10 with your face or your fingerprint, if your computer has the necessary hardware.

And now, palm vein scanning joins the list, though note it's scanning veins rather than actual palms. The idea is that the underlying network of veins are so intricate and complex that they're unique to every user.

What's more, it's much more difficult to get a copy of someone's palm vein blueprint than it is to get a photo of someone's face, which might be enough to get through certain face unlock methods.

Fujitsu is promising that its laptop palm vein scanners, which are only a little larger than a postage stamp, are very fast and very accurate. All it takes is for users to hold their hands just above the scanner, and they're straight into Windows, no password required.

The technology works with a quick upward blast of infrared rays, which bounce back at different rates depending on whether veins are detected or not. The end result is a palm map where veins are shown as black lines, which the security embedded into Windows Hello can then use to verify a person's identity.

It's the deoxidized hemoglobin in the veins that makes them stand out to an infrared scan, and the blood needs to be pumping for it to work – so hackers won't be able to use a severed hand to log into someone else's Windows 10 computer.

A number of businesses are already making use of this PalmSecure technology, and it's now available in Windows 10 Pro laptops from Fujitsu as well. Or at least it is if you're the IT buyer at a company. There's no word on a consumer launch, but the technology is likely to eventually trickle down to the rest of us.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update to arrive in August 2. Some enhancements

We are 26 days away of the date when Microsoft will finish its Windows 10 update FREE program to Windows 7 and Windows 8 actual users. After that date you will start paying $119.- for a Windows 10 basic version.

A Big Anniversary Update of Windows 10 will arrive to your PC, laptop, notebook or whatever kind of device you are working with Windows 10, in August 2.

SOME PROJECTED ENHANCEMENTS:

CORTANA:

On Windows 10-powered devices, Cortana will soon sit above the lock screen. That means you won't have to sign in to your device in order to interact with Cortana. It's a nice time saver - although the idea is already in place on Android and iOS.

WINDOWS INK:
Also in the time-saving pile is Windows Ink. The company has shared some info on Windows Ink already, but the Anniversary Update will be when it makes its full public debut.
"In this release you're going to see the pen become a first-class method of input," promised Mr Mehdi, explaining how the pen - a stylus, in other words - could now be used to scribble notes quickly on to the screen.
Like Cortana, much of Windows Ink's appeal will be that you don't need to unlock the device in order to use it. You just click the pen and begin writing on the screen.
WINDOWS HELLO:
Also in the update: more uses for Windows Hello. For a while, Hello has been able to log you into a Windows 10 device just by recognising your face (or fingerprint).
Now Microsoft hopes to expand that capability to websites. Microsoft envisions a time when you can sign in to your favourite websites using your face rather than a password - an obvious improvement at a time when security experts are questioning the long-term suitability of passwords.
The function works within the Edge browser. Web developers only have to add a small amount of code in order to enable Hello log-ins on their site.
Don't expect many of them just yet, mind. Microsoft couldn't give me any examples of websites that were planning to incorporate log-ins via Hello.
