HP today announced the HP Slate⁷, an affordable Android Jelly Bean consumer tablet that provides customers with easy access to Google Mobile services.

With a 7-inch diagonal screen and weighing 13 ounces, the HP Slate⁷ is an ideal trusted personal companion, featuring a stainless-steel frame and soft black paint in gray or red on the back. It also is the industry's first tablet to offer embedded Beats Audio, for the best-sounding, richest audio experience available on a tablet.

The HP Slate⁷ delivers the Google experience with services like Google Now, Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts for multiperson video chat as well as access to apps and digital content through Google Play.⁽¹⁾

The HP Slate⁷ joins the recently introduced HP Chromebook as part of HP's push to offer access to the Google experience.

HP's tablet offerings reside in the company's newly formed Mobility Global Business Unit, established in September 2012 with the hiring of Torres. Torres joined HP from Nokia, where he was executive vice president and oversaw the MeeGo products and platform.

HP Slate⁷ makes computing easy while on the go

Powered by an ARM Dual Core Cortex-A9 1.6 GHz processor, the HP Slate⁷ is fast and responsive. Integrated wireless allows customers to access email, the internet and key applications, while the High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching (HFFS) panel offers wide viewing angles that provide easy viewing of documents, games, photos and videos—even in outdoor lighting conditions.

The HP Slate⁷ includes a 3-megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front for chatting, videos and photos.

With the HP ePrint ⁽²⁾ application, customers can easily print while at home or on the go, and the exclusive native printing capability enables customers to print directly from most applications. A micro USB port allows customers to easily transfer files, and a suite of applications from HP spans exclusive games to productivity tools.

HP will provide an array of simple and easy-to-access support tools and resources to help customers take full advantage of all of the features the HP Slate⁷ has to offer. In addition to extensive phone and online support offerings included with the HP Slate⁷, HP is offering customers the opportunity to add to the standard product limited warranty with its HP Care Pack services. HP Slate⁷ customers will have the option to protect their investment with a two-year HP Care Pack for $29 or a two-year HP Care Pack with Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) for $49.⁽³⁾

HUAWEI Ascend P2 breaks all records with its 150 Mbps download speed.

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today introduced the HUAWEI Ascend P2, the world’s fastest smartphone, at the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The Ascend P2 features a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and LTE Cat 4 providing an

ultrafast web experience with download speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Continuing the

fashion legacy of the Ascend P-series, it is only 8.4mm slim with an infinity edge 4.7-inch

IPS HD in-cell touch display with second-generation Corning® Gorilla® Glass, and will be

available in black and white.

there’s no need to compromise when desiring a perfect smartphone. It is evidence of the

The HUAWEI Ascend P2 will be on sale in France through Orange in June 2013.

The HUAWEI Ascend P2 runs on the Android 4.1 operating system, with Huawei’s own

Emotion UI 1.5. Powered by a 2420 mAh battery and 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, the

Ascend P2 downloads HD movies in minutes, and loads online videos, web pages, songs

or e-Books in seconds. Huawei’s proprietary ‘swift sharing’ supports uploads and

downloads two to three times faster than other smartphones in a Wi-Fi environment.

With its NFC module*, Ascend P2 enables e-payments and can act as an electronic ticket.

Huawei's unique Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception

(ADRX) power-saving technologies, reduces power consumption by 30% and charging

time by more than 25% compared to other smartphones.

Continuing the fashion focus of Huawei’s Ascend P smartphones, HUAWEI Ascend P2

evokes the image of an infinity pool with its seamless, elegant design and curvy contours.

Using in-cell technology, its LCD 4.7-inch IPS HD touchscreen is an impressive 8.4mm

slim. Its ‘magic touch’ feature provides enhanced screen responsiveness even with

gloves, and instant keyword translation and Wikipedia searches can now be done on a

single window with ‘smart reading’. The screen also calibrates its brightness

automatically under any light conditions, allowing users to perform any function, under

any light.

The HUAWEI Ascend P2 provides optimal photo and video features including a 13 MP BSI

rear-facing camera with HDR, and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera to support self-portrait

and video shooting. A dedicated camera key on the side of the phone also allows instant

access to picture taking, click once for the camera to be activated and another time to

take the shot. With Huawei’s advanced camera algorithm, high-definition images can be

captured even in backlit conditions. Auto adjustment modes further enable Ascend P2 to

produce photos that rival professional cameras.

The Huawei Emotion UI*, available on the Ascend P2 is easy to use and customize. The

UniHome function combines home panels with the main menu, while Huawei’s patent pending

functions you need in a single, customizable widget. Emotion UI is also pre-installed with

a smartphone housekeeper function to support real-time data traffic tracking, automatic

blacklisting and blocking, periodical system cleaning, and spontaneous exiting of idle

programs and cache cleanup, in addition to anti-virus, energy saving, privacy protection,

software management, and more.

The Ascend P2 will also be available globally around the second quarter of 2013.

Spain–February, 25^th, 2013 - AT4 wireless, leading Wireless and Mobile Testing and Certification Laboratory, has been designated by Telefonica as its Global Mobile Testing Laboratory.

Telefonica has selected AT4 wireless as its Global Mobile Testing Laboratory. With this designation AT4 wireless will test any mobile device (handsets and modems among others) selected by Telefonica Operations in Latin America and Europe.

AT4 wireless started this homologation testing for Telefonica in 2011 in Latin America. SCaLE, the Southern California Linux Expo, is one of the largest recurring open source and Linux conferences. With dozens of speakers and multiple tracks, there’s a lot to discover. One thing you can discover at SCaLE is Open webOS. Roy Sutton will be on-hand to demo Open webOS at the HP booth and to present at the conference.

The first presentation, co-presented with WebOS Ports leader Tom King, will be “Open Source Community Relations”, which will explore what it takes to run a successful open source community. The second will be “From Closed to Open: The Open webOS Story”, which will explore how Open webOS came to the open source community.

 SammyHub on Thursday spotted what appears to be a leaked picture of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 that’s on track to be launched at MWC in Barcelona. The leaked picture looks a lot like other leaked pictures we’ve seen of the Note 8.0, which looks a lot like a larger version of Samsung’s hit Galaxy S III smartphone.
