Original Post from the Office Blog:

Office for Android phone is here!

Today’s post was written by Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team.
Today I’m pleased to announce the general availability of the new Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps for Android phone. These join our previously released Office apps for Android tablets to complete the Office experience for the millions of Android users around the world. Download Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your Android phone today to get started.

Five weeks ago, we announced the Office for Android phone preview. We are so grateful to our preview users, and with their help we were able to test the apps on over 1,900 different Android phone models in 83 countries. During the preview, we heard from thousands of these users, and over the last few weeks we were able to incorporate a lot of their feedback into the apps we’re launching today. For example, we made it easier to connect to other popular third-party storage offerings like Google Drive and Box, as well as many usability adjustments to make it easier to navigate commands within the apps.
Here are a few of my favorite aspects of our new Android phone apps:
  • On the go reviews and edits—I often need to squeeze in quick reviews in between appointments during the day. I can review documents in full fidelity, read comments and then easily add my own.
  • Presenting from my phone—I love just bringing my phone to a meeting to present wirelessly.  PowerPoint for Android phone gives me the same transitions, animations and design that I would have from my desktop, and I can even use inking to highlight important points while presenting.
  • Quick access to my documents—I can quickly find the document I was working on in the office from my phone.  It even shows me where I was last working. Additionally, while I am a faithful OneDrive user, I can also access documents stored in Dropbox, Google Drive or Box with our support for third-party cloud storage providers.
  • Easy to get—We’ve partnered with over 30 global, regional and local OEMs such as Samsung, Sony, LG and many more, to pre-load these apps on Android devices. Many of these devices will be landing in retail stores later this year.
You can download the Word for Android, Excel for Android and PowerPoint for Android appsfrom the Google Play* store beginning today. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we enjoyed making them.
—Kirk Koenigsbauer
*Word, Excel, PowerPoint apps are available in the following app stores in China: Tencent, Baidu, Xiaomi, CMCC, and through the Samsung Galaxy Store worldwide.

Five reasons to switch to Windows 10.

The new Windows 10 operating system will be available in 190 countries on July 29, as a free upgrade for users of Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

That day, people will get Windows 10 for PCs and tablets, through the offer of a free upgrade, or a new device with Windows 10 in the stores authorized by the manufacturer. The new devices with Windows 8.1 can also easily upgrade to Windows 10; in turn, at points of sale, authorized personnel help with the migration of the devices.

Also, since June 2 it is enabled the option to reserve free update in www.windows.com or downloaded the Get Windows 10 application, available in the Windows Store for Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 and 8.1.

The update can upgrade free of charge until 29 July 2016. After that date will cost process that is not yet revealed.

Windows 10 for cell phones will be available through original equipment manufacturer or provider of mobile phone services. There is still no exact date for introducing the new version of the operating system in this range of devices.

Who have version Starter, Home Basic and Home Premium Windows 7 migrate to Windows 10 Home. If you have the Professional or Ultimate edition, will have Windows 10 Pro.

In the case of Windows 8, if they have basic Windows 8.1, it will update to the Home version of Windows 10.

Windows 8.1 Pro, Pro Student and Pro WMC will  migrate to its counterpart version.

Windows Phone 8.1 will have Windows 10 Mobile.

All this is possible as long as the system meets certain requirements: 1 GHz processor or faster, 1 GB of RAM for the 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit, 16 to 20 GB of space the hard drive and a video card that supports DirectX 9 or higher. The minimum screen resolution should be 1024 by 600 pixels. S

Some features of the current systems will become obsolete, such as Media Center. You may have problems with some devices and drivers should make sure that your security solution will offer support for Windows 10. Programs that already work on Windows 7 and 8 also do so in Windows 10.

Five reasons to switch to Windows 10:

It will integrate applications

Windows applications store is now open in the same format as desktop programs. You can resize and move further to incorporate title bar at the top that allow enlarge, minimize or close with one click.

Windows 10 will bring several 'apps' included by default, including: Photos, Music, and Outlook Maps.

Although sold separately, include a package of Office optimized for Windows 10 was designed.

It allows multiple desktops and improve multitasking

Work on several applications at the same time is now easier. Improved function to divide the so-called 'Snap' screen. In Windows 10 can be kept open up to four applications on the same workspace. If the user occupies half the workspace with two windows, the operating system recommends other programs that could fill the remaining space.

Windows 10 allows you to create multiple virtual desktops that can be alternated, but not work simultaneously. To access these different workspaces there will be an additional task bar reminiscent of the one in OS X.

Will improve your web browser

The latest version of Windows will have a new browser called Microsoft Edge.

You have three characteristics that defines it: first, allows you to make notes and commenting on websites. This will be possible both through a touch interface, as in traditional input systems like the mouse and keyboard.

Secondly, it will incorporate a reading mode that removes graphic elements and gives priority to the text of the site that the user visits

Finally, you will have the help of the Cortana assistant in the browser, , which will facilitate the search by voice commands. The assistant will appear in the left bar of the interface.

It is clear that Internet Explorer will not disappear entirely. Version 11 remain in force for companies, since some corporate solutions so require.

Return the classic Start menu and the Cortana assistant will be integrated.

The interface of Windows 10 will resume the start menu. Now include a list of the most used applications or programs and personalized mosaic tile, or 'live tiles', as they are known in English, inherited the design concept of Windows 8.

In turn, include an improved version of the digital assistant Cortana. For users of Windows Phone, this is not new, but for PC users it will. Cortana will be displayed when you want to search

There will be oriented to provide assistance under the heading of 'Ask me anything' (Ask me what you want) bar. It will provide, in addition to this, relevant information according to the geographical location and the interests of each. In this, it resembles Google Now,

Tests are needed to see if the solution outperforms Android. It will also be distributed to Apple devices.

Virtual reality platform.

Windows 10 seeks to become the platform of choice for enjoying video games and content platforms oriented tovirtual reality platforms . The operating system will allow the use of virtual reality glasses, both Oculus Oculus Rift VR as HoloLens of Microsoft.

Both peripherals will be available from the first quarter of 2016.

On the other hand, Windows 10 will support the games that are already on the market; will enjoy the benefits of DirectX 12; and bring Xbox Live to PC. Also you can play Xbox One titles  on the computer via streaming. One of the first that will take advantage of this feature is Fable Legends.

ITU says 5G mobile is a 20Gbps speed network. Defines vision and roadmap for development.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has agreed on the preliminary definitions for the future 5G standard for mobile networking. A conference in San Diego to decide on the future of the standard was held from June 10th to 18th, where a 12 member delegation sat to draw up the specifications.
In terms of data speeds, the group decided that 5G compliant networks will have to provide data speeds of up to 20Gbps (Gigabits per second), 20 times faster than the 1Gbps specification for 4G. In terms of what this means for actual user speeds, customers should receive speeds in the region of 100 to 1000 Mbps, depending on a number of factors. This is anywhere from a 10 to 100 fold increase over typical 4G speed of 10Mbps.
This big increase in data speeds and bandwidth is expected to open up access to higher resolution 4K video content and holographic technology via mobile networks.
The specification also caters for future internet-of-things technologies. 5G will have to be able to provide more than 100 Mbps average data transmission to over 1 million IoT device within a 1 square kilometre radius.
As for the formal naming scheme, 5G will be called IMT-2020. IMT-2000 was the name for 3G networks and IMT-Advanced for 4G. The group will begin looking for technologies to use for the standard soon.
Korean telecommunications company KT recently unveiled its own 1.17Gbps network, which aims to bridge the gap between 4G and 5G. Its GiGA LTE network makes use of LTE and WiFi broadband network hotspots to offer faster speeds to consumers and this was an ITU consideration to help nations meet the higher bandwidth requirements of 5G. Korea is leading the way with development of 5G technologies and has had a large input into definiting the standard.
The final details for the 5G standard will be confirmed in October, following approval from the 193 ITU member countries. International spectrum for the 5G network should begin distribution in 2019, with commercialized implementations expected sometime in 2020. Although we will be treated to an early demonstration of 5G technology at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.
Ongoing information on the development of IMT-2020 will be available here.
Press Release:

ITU defines vision and roadmap for 5G mobile development

Future mobile technologies usher in new paradigms for connected society

Geneva, 19 June 2015 – ITU has established the overall roadmap for the development of 5G mobile and defined the term it will apply to it as “IMT-2020”.
With the finalization of its work on the “Vision” for 5G systems at a meeting of ITU-R Working Party 5D in San Diego, California, ITU has now defined the overall goals, process and timeline for the development of 5G mobile systems. This process is now well underway within ITU, in close collaboration with governments and the global mobile industry.
The meeting also agreed that the work should be conducted under the name of IMT-2020, as an extension of the ITU’s existing family of global standards for International Mobile Telecommunication systems (IMT-2000 and IMT-Advanced) which serve as the basis for all of today’s 3G and 4G mobile systems.
The next step is to establish detailed technical performance requirements for the radio systems to support 5G, taking into account the needs of a wide portfolio of future scenarios and use cases, and then to specify the evaluation criteria for assessment of candidate radio interface technologies to join the IMT-2020 family. These new systems, set to become available in 2020, will usher in new paradigms in connectivity in mobile broadband wireless systems to support, for example, extremely high definition video services, real time low latency applications and the expanding realm of the Internet of Things (IoT).
The ITU-R Radiocommunication Assembly, which meets in October 2015, is expected to formally adopt the term “IMT-2020”.
“The buzz in the industry on future steps in mobile technology – 5G – has seen a sharp increase, with attention now focused on enabling a seamlessly connected society in the 2020 timeframe and beyond that brings together people along with things, data, applications, transport systems and cities in a smart networked communications environment,” said ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao. “ITU will continue its partnership with the global mobile industry and governmental bodies to bring IMT-2020 to realization.”
Ongoing information on the development of IMT-2020 will be available here.

InfoComm 2015: LG unveils World`s narrowest Video Wall Display with WebOS for Signage.

LG unveils  Video Wall Display Super-Slim Bezel Size of  1.8 m.m that works with WebOS for Signage.

LG Electronics Unveils World's Narrowest Video Wall Display At InfoComm 2015.

Video Wall Boasts Super-Slim Bezel Size of 1.8 mm, Joins High-Performance Ultra HD Monitors, Outdoor Displays, Pro-Grade Digital Signage
LG Electronics USA today unveiled an all-new Full HD Video Wall display with the world's slimmest bezel to bezel design – 1.8 millimeters. Introduced at InfoComm 2015, which starts here today, the VH7B Direct Backlit LED Display is redefining the video wall category with its unprecedented thin bezel, and features distinct new innovations that address the largest issues video wall customers face today.
Available in the United States this fall in 49- and 55-inch class sizes (48.5- and 54.6-inches measured diagonally), the VH7B is the first video wall display to feature an unprecedented bezel-to-bezel measurement of about 1/16th of an inch, allowing displays to be connected seamlessly with others.
This creates a powerful, impactful video wall that becomes less a collection of panels and more a cohesive, continuous image for a much more engaging, immersive viewer experience. LG's included software allows the displays to be arranged in up to a 15 x 15 matrix, while installation options become nearly limitless when married with third-party hardware/software signage solutions.
The image is unrivaled when combined with the significant improvements LG achieved in maintaining the brightness uniformity across the screens, keeping the edges as bright as the center. To address the challenges of matching color and brightness across all panels, LG has incorporated factory calibration and efficient calibration tools that allow integrators to achieve an optimal image within 3-5 minutes per panel.
"LG is yet again raising the bar for video displays with the launch of the VH7B," said Clark Brown, digital signage vice president for LG Electronics USA. "Our commitment to delivering innovations for better business, such as this exciting new product, communicates loud and clear that LG is the only partner customers should be considering for their display solutions."
The groundbreaking video wall display features LG's "webOS for Signage" smart platform, which takes advantage of the built-in high-performance system-on-a-chip (SoC) that eliminates the need for an external media player, helping to reduce the total cost of ownership. LG's webOS for Signage enables a variety of web-based applications across multiple platforms, as well as the ability to write applications using HTML 5. The new VH7B series also includes several new features and improvements in design, including its light weigh (20KG) and slim depth (87mm), to allow for easier installation and maintenance of the product.
In addition to the new VH7B video wall, LG's 2015 InfoComm booth (#1529) features interactive demonstrations of a range of key LG products and solutions, including the benefits of its In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel technology. IPS panels minimize image distortion at wide angles and provide high picture quality that offers original image color matching. Most importantly, IPS panels create a viewing experience that is watchable at virtually any angle.
