AT&T and Verizon expand LTE plans

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

US operators AT&T and Verizon Wireless have both stepped up their LTE expansion efforts.

Verizon has upped its goal of 147 metropolitan markets by the end of this year to 175, while AT&T used a filing with the FCC (regarding its proposed US$39 billion merger with T-Mobile USA) to state that the deal will enable it to provide LTE coverage to more than 97 percent of the population, an increase from the 95 percent it estimated at the time the acquisition plan was announced.
