HTC announced its Sensation smartphone, a high-tier device powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
The Android 2.3-powered handset has a 4.3” touch screen with qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution and includes an 8MP main camera with “instant capture” and supporting full HD video capture at 1080p resolution with stereo sound.
Other features include support for content sharing via DNLA, Wi-Fi printing, and a “video trimmer” tool to enable easy video editing. Supporting the introduction of Sensation is a new version of HTC’s Sense user interface, which the company said “boasts a host of new features and enhancements.”
It includes a customisable “active lock” screen, which delivers content to the display when the device is locked, and tasks and applications can also be launched directly from this screen “with a single motion.”
Sensation is also the first smartphone to support HTC’s Watch content service, introduced earlier this year to support the Flyer tablet, which the company said “puts an entire library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows right at your fingertips.”
This includes a progressive download feature which enables customers to view content before the full download is complete.
The HTC Sensation will be available “broadly” from Vodafone across major European markets, and it will be available in the US exclusively from T-Mobile USA, beginning the summer, as the “Sensation 4G.” An APAC release is also scheduled for the second quarter of 2011.
