CES 2012: Visikord motion controlled music application to be launched for PC + Kinect. Video Demo.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.

We call this visual music, you play it with your hands as you move/dance to actual music. The music can come from any source. The energy you feel from the song is the energy you transfer on the screen.

Purpose: practice music and movement skills and concentration, create your own unique artwork, or use as a party starter and an entertainment feature.

The software: Visikord works on a PC with Microsoft Kinect plugged into a USB port. (It also works with Asus Xtion, shown in the video). A free demo is available for download at http://visikord.com, with the Full and the Pro versions coming soon.

How it works: when vision nerves receive stimulation that in timing and intensity matches what hearing nerves receive, it appears that the visuals are causing the sound. If it is you who is making the visuals in rhythm with the music, it appears that it is you who is causing the music. The feeling is similar to that of playing music.

How to play: the two glowing dots on top are triggers activated when your avatar touches them. They change the backgrounds and your music "weapons." Many shapes exist and new ones can be added as plugins. You can record performances and play them back later.

Adding a New Dimension to Music: Visikord motion controlled music application to be launched at CES in Las Vegas.

Visikord Interactive (http://www.visikord.com), launches a new innovative motion-controlled music application, available for demonstration during CES 2012 in Las Vegas, January 10-13 in the PrimeSense™ stand, South Hall 3 #30242.

Visikord Interactive offers a new way to experience music through movement and dance. It projects the person moving to the music on the screen and extends their appearance with motion-controlled powers. This augmented image allows the user to engage with the music beyond just listening to it and create his or her own experience. (watch the demo video: http://visikord.com/introduction/watch-visikord-demo)

Turning an ordinary TV screen into a smart screen controlled by dancing people, Visikord is a music and party accessory designated for the entertainment industry, clubs and party attendees, as well as the gaming industry for kids and youth. Besides providing a sense of enjoyment and a good workout, it contributes to developing dance and musical skills for all ages. It is easy to operate and works on any PC that is connected to an OpenNI™ compatible motion sensor such as the PrimeSense 3D sensor.

Visikord is the result of four years' research and development led by Davor Magdic, a former Serbian engineer who has been living in California for the past 13 years. According to Magdic, "We feel the market is ready for us. The advancement of motion controlled technologies allows us to turn the living room into a dance arcade and then to use that same technology outside of the living room. The application has received very good responses from distributors and technology leaders, as well as from audiences in clubs and youth festivals."

The application will be demonstrated every half-hour by a professional dancer at CES 2012 in the PrimeSense booth, South Hall 3 #30242.
