China Mobile, the largest mobile telecom carrier in China, and Apple have reached a consensus that will enable China Mobile to develop an iPhone model based on TD-LTE which will be offered in 2012, China-based Southern Metropolis Daily cited China Mobile chairman Wang Jian-zhou as saying at the company's 2011 shareholders meeting on May 19.

While China United, the only WCDMA operator in China, is the exclusive sales agent of iPhone in the China market currently, more than four million China Mobile subscribers use iPhone, Wang indicated.

China Mobile originally hoped to develop iPhone to support TD-SCDMA, but Apple disagreed, Wang pointed out.
