NEW TECHNOLOGY:
LG U+ has developed a SIM-less card technology, enabling smart devices to work without SIM cards.
The UNIVERSAL INTEGRATED CIRCUIT CARD or iUICC replaces the SIM card by putting the information on a communication chipset that powers voice and data connections. The SIM card today stores users personal information for identified the user's plan and services,
This NEW TECHNOLOGY will allow manufacturers to reduce the size of the smart devices, because there will not be needed a SIM card space anymore.
In the venture, besides LG U+, were SONY semiconductor Israel, cellular chipset developer, NT more, communication module maker and Giesecke+Devrient German digital security solutions provider.
LG U+ said it plans to use the technology for other Internet of Things products, including tracking devices.
The company added that it would introduce a series of IoT solutions using the SIM-less technology, as well as its own 5G network.
