Samsung Galaxy SIII is the best smartphone of 2012, beats the iPhone 5, says CNET.

According to CNET the Samsung Galaxy SIII is the best smartphone of 2012:

1. Samsung Galaxy S3, the Android hero.

It took years of iPhone dominance and many months of Android market leadership for a phone with Google's mobile operating system to knock the iPhone off its pedestal. The Samsung Galaxy S3 won that honor. The GS3 is a truly global phone, available on nearly every carrier, nearly everywhere. Its large, vibrant HD display represents a growing class of phones with broader form factors, and its delicate balance of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a sharp 8-megapixel camera, 4G LTE or HSPA+ support, and an accessible price make the Galaxy S3 a worldwide hero.

CES 2013:
LG Introduces Powerful Audio And Video Products With Enhanced Smart TV Functions And Intuitive User Experience.

LG's 2013 Lineup Features Powerful Sound, Innovative Smart Features, And a Myriad of Connectivity Options.

Led by new sound bars, docking speakers and connected Blu-ray Disc players, LG Electronics (LG) today unveiled its 2013 audio and video lineup.

Previewing the official launch at next month's International CES® in Las Vegas, LG announced a broad new array of products including: the BH9430PW 9.1-channel speaker system, NB4530A Sound Bar, BP730 Blu-ray player with Smart TV features, the ND8630 Dual Docking Speaker and the NP6630 Portable Speaker. These advanced products clearly illustrate LG's commitment to delivering users captivating audio, superior Smart TV functionality, a highly intuitive user experience.

"A home theater system is much more than just a TV and speakers; it's a comprehensive package," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company. "LG offers superb audio and video products to help consumers realize a truly immersive home cinema experience. By implementing advanced technologies, smart connectivity and control, LG will continue to be a leader in the audio visual segment in 2013."

True Cinema Sound: Audio System That Rivals Theaters
LG emphasized improved sound quality with its Home Theater Systems this year, which is best exemplified by the BH9430PW, a high-quality surround sound speaker system designed to take the movie viewing experience to the next level. LG opted to employ speaker cones using high-tensile Aramid fiber, which is used in high-end home theaters and results in a wider range of sound, including defined, deep bass with near-zero sound distortion.

Additionally, the 9.1-channel system creates four additional channels in addition to the typical 5.1 setup, delivering an even more immersive audio experience. A chorus of stunning sound is produced by the front tallboy and rear satellite speakers, helping to fill the entire room with a soundscape that rivals that of an actual cinema. The system's 3D Surround Processor analyzes content to distribute sound in multiple directions while maintaining an appropriate balance.

A new convenience feature added to the 2013 lineup is called Private Sound Mode, which lets consumers feed the system's sound directly to their smartphone via Wi-Fi (sold separately) where they can listen with any regular earbuds. Now, the rest of the family isn't disturbed when one member wants to enjoy their home theater system at inconvenient times, for example late at night or when others are on the phone. Finally, the BH9430PW is compatible with iPhones® and iPads® to charge the devices and provide access to stored content.

Also serving as a smart hub, the BH9430PW supports Near Field Communication (NFC), which offers wireless and seamless content mirroring from smartphones and other compatible external devices. In addition, it has other excellent Smart TV capabilities such as web browsing*. Additional Home Theaters Systems in the lineup include the BH9230BW, BH6830SW and BH6730S.

Perfect Premium TV Companion
LG expanded its Sound Bar lineup in 2013 to include four models, highlighted by the NB4530A Sound Bar, which combines sound quality and aesthetic appeal making it the ideal complement to today's slim-profile premium TVs. The Sound Bar produces compellingly rich audio with 2.1 channels, 310W speakers and an easy to place wireless subwoofer. The stylish unit is has a slim design of only 1.38 inches tall** with a black and silver finish, making it the perfect premium TV companion.

Supporting HDMI with an Audio Return Channel (HDMI ARC), the Sound Bar plays audio from the TV without requiring additional cables. It is also Bluetooth-enabled to facilitate wireless audio streaming from smartphones, tablets and laptops. The Sound Bar's can be wall-mounted or will fit neatly under one of LG's new CinemaScreen TVs.

Also key to LG's Sound bar lineup is the NB3730A, which offers consumers premium streaming content from embedded partners Netflix, Vudu, CinemaNow, Pandora and vTuner*. The NB3730A has been honored with a 2013 International CES® Innovation Award in the Home Theater Speaker category. Additional Sound Bars in the U.S. lineup include the NB3530A and NB2030A.

The Hub: LG's 3D Blu-ray Player with Smart TV Features
Another 2013 Innovation Award recipient is LG's new flagship Blu-ray model (BP730) which offers a range of comprehensive Smart TV features including Video-On-Demand (VOD) through premium services such as Hulu Plus, Pandora, Netflix and YouTube and wireless connectivity options as well as web browsing*. The BP730 also supports NFC.

New in 2013, the BP730 is easily operated with the acclaimed LG Magic Remote, enabling customers to navigate the system's control options with point—and-wheel based actions. The Blu-ray player also employs a dual core processor to handle the All-in-One search function. This advanced feature simultaneously collects search results for VOD and apps and displays them in the same browser for quick access to sought-after content. Regardless of whether content is viewed in 2D or 3D, the BP730 provides vivid colors and crisp picture quality. Additional Blu-ray players in the U.S. lineup include the BP530 and BP330.

Connectivity in Style: Wireless Dual Docking Speaker with Streaming Music
Rounding out LG's audio lineup are a series of docking and portable speakers, headlined by the ND8630 Dual Docking Speaker, which supports dock-and-play for both iOS and Android mobile devices. The 80W speaker conveniently charges the batteries of all docked devices. It can also recognize and wirelessly play music files saved on smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop PCs that support Bluetooth and Apple's AirPlay.

The speaker's cylindrical design also offers a visually appealing direct docking option. In addition, the Mood Lamp creates a soft, environment-enhancing lighting effect, while the Smart Sensor analyzes the amount of illumination being provided by ambient light sources. Additional docking speakers in the U.S. lineup include the ND5630, ND2531 and ND2530.

The NP6630 is LG's flagship portable speaker. The versatile 20W unit supports NFC, AirPlay and Bluetooth to wirelessly stream music from a diverse range of mobile devices. The highly capable speaker is the perfect combination of portability and functionality, keeping tunes playing for extended periods of time, even in the most remote locations. No matter what NP6630 users are doing – camping, barbequing or relaxing at the beach – they can enjoy an audio experience that is far superior to that provided by a smartphone. The NP3530 rounds out the portable speaker lineup.

Video: Beam - a mobile video-conferencing robot machine allows employees to interact.

More employees are working from home, but there's still no substitute for actually being at the office. Enter the Beam. Beam - a mobile video-conferencing robot machine allows employees to interact.

Engineer Dallas Goecker attends meetings, jokes with colleagues and roams the office building just like other employees at his company in Silicon Valley.

But Goecker isn't in California. He's more than 2,300 miles away, working at home in Seymour, Indiana.

It's all made possible by the Beam - a mobile video-conferencing machine that he can drive around the Palo Alto offices and workshops of Suitable Technologies. The 5-foot-tall device, topped with a large video screen, gives him a physical presence that makes him and his colleagues feel like he's actually there.

"This gives you that casual interaction that you're used to at work," Goecker said, speaking on a Beam.

"I'm sitting in my desk area with everybody else. I'm part of their conversations and their socializing."
Suitable Technologies, which makes the Beam, is now one of more than a dozen companies that sell so-called telepresence robots. These remote-controlled machines are equipped with video cameras, speakers, microphones and wheels that allow users to see, hear, talk and "walk" in faraway locations.

More and more employees are working remotely, thanks to computers, smartphones, email, instant messaging and video-conferencing. But those technologies are no substitute for actually being in the office, where casual face-to-face conversations allow for easy collaboration and camaraderie.

Telepresence-robot makers are trying to bridge that gap with wheeled machines - controlled over wireless Internet connections - that give remote workers a physical presence in the workplace.

These robotic stand-ins are still a long way from going mainstream, with only a small number of organizations starting to use them. The machines can be expensive, difficult to navigate or even get stuck if they venture into areas with poor Internet connectivity. Stairs can be lethal, and non-techies might find them too strange to use regularly.

"There are still a lot of questions, but I think the potential is really great," said Pamela Hinds, co-director of Stanford University's Center on Work, Technology, & Organization. "I don't think face-to-face is going away, but the question is, how much face-to-face can be replaced by this technology?"

Technology watchers say these machines - sometimes called remote presence devices - could be used for many purposes. They could let managers inspect overseas factories, salespeople greet store customers, family members check on elderly relatives or art lovers tour foreign museums.

Some physicians are already seeing patients in remote hospitals with the RP-VITA robot co-developed by Santa-Barbara, Calif.,-based InTouch Health and iRobot, the Bedford, Mass.,-based maker of the Roomba vacuum.

The global market for telepresence robots is projected to reach $13 billion by 2017, said Philip Solis, research director for emerging technologies at ABI Research.

The robots have attracted the attention of Russian venture capitalist Dimitry Grishin, who runs a $25 million fund that invests in early-stage robotics companies.

"It's difficult to predict how big it will be, but I definitely see a lot of opportunity," Grishin said. "Eventually it can be in each home and each office."

His Grishin Robotics fund recently invested $250,000 in a startup called Double Robotics. The Sunnyvale, Calif.,-company started selling a Segway-like device called the Double that holds an Apple iPad, which has a built-in video-conferencing system called FaceTime. The Double can be controlled remotely from an iPad or iPhone.

So far, Double Robotics has sold more than 800 units that cost $1,999 each, said co-founder Mark DeVidts.

The Beam got its start as a side project at Willow Garage, a robotics company in Menlo Park where Goecker worked as an engineer.

A few years ago, he moved back to his native Indiana to raise his family, but he found it difficult to collaborate with engineering colleagues using existing video-conferencing systems.

"I was struggling with really being part of the team," Goecker said. "They were doing all sorts of wonderful things with robotics. It was hard for me to participate."

So Goecker and his colleagues created their own telepresence robot. The result: the Beam and a new company to develop and market it.

At $16,000 each, the Beam isn't cheap. But Suitable Technologies says it was designed with features that make "pilots" and "locals" feel the remote worker is physically in the room: powerful speakers, highly sensitive microphones and robust wireless connectivity.

The company began shipping Beams last month, mostly to tech companies with widely dispersed engineering teams, officials said.

"Being there in person is really complicated - commuting there, flying there, all the different ways people have to get there. Beam allows you to be there without all that hassle," said CEO Scott Hassan, beaming in from his office at Willow Garage in nearby Menlo Park.

Not surprisingly, Suitable Technologies has fully embraced the Beam as a workplace tool. On any given day, up to half of its 25 employees "beam" into work, with employees on Beams sitting next to their flesh-and-blood colleagues and even joining them for lunch in the cafeteria.

Software engineer Josh Faust beams in daily from Hawaii, where he moved to surf, and plans to spend the winter hitting the slopes in Lake Tahoe. He can't play pingpong or eat the free, catered lunches in Palo Alto, but he otherwise feels like he's part of the team.

"I'm trying to figure out where exactly I want to live. This allows me to do that without any of the instability of trying to find a different job," Faust said, speaking on a Beam from Kaanapali, Hawaii. "It's pretty amazing."

Nokia  Windows RT   10.1  inch Tablet  with HDMI,  USB  ports  and  battery on  keyboard  cover, coming.

In March 28,2102 we reported Nokia was working on a Windows tablet rumored at that time as Nokia Lumia Coffee Tab , that probably was just a concept, as you can see on the video below:

Nokia now is said to plan packing the Windows RT   10.1  inch Tablet   device with a cover similar to the one Microsoft used for Surface, and to include HDMI and USB ports on it.

The cover will include not only a keyboard, two USB ports and a kickstand for the tablet, but also a battery that will further extend the usage time of the device.

Also featuring cellular connectivity inside, the device is expected to make an official debut at AT&T in the United States.

Nokia’s Windows RT tablet PC is expected to boast a 10-hour capacity. Apparently, the handset vendor is planning to manufacture only a small number of this device, but is also looking at the launch of a Windows 8-based slate at a later date.

Recent reports have suggested that Nokia may unveil its tablet at Mobile World Congress in February.
