WorldWideTech & Science. Francisco De Jesús.New Class of On-Demand Applications Helps Customers Innovate and Extend Their Existing SAP® Business Suite Software Systems
Companies are looking for ways to innovate business processes in dedicated business areas without disrupting their existing software investments. SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) is addressing this demand by introducing a new class of on-demand software solutions that include a packaged integration into SAP® Business Suite software.
These solutions also apply mobile and social networking technology to better support the way people work today anytime, anywhere. As the linchpin of SAP's cloud strategy, the SAP® Business ByDesign™ solution is the platform on which this new line of applications is built. Given the capabilities of this platform, these applications will have the advantage of in-memory technology and on-demand deployment as well as support for mobile devices. The SAP® Sales OnDemand solution is the first of these new applications, which will be previewed at CeBIT 2011, being held March 1-5, in Hanover, Germany.
Further offerings serving the specific needs of users in lines of business will be made available throughout 2011. One solution will be focused on optimizing expense management by helping people control expenses, gain visibility into travel spend and meet regulatory requirements. Another solution will assist human capital management professionals in supporting employee performance management, employee development and career planning. These new on-demand solutions are joining the existing SAP portfolio of line-of-business on-demand software, including the SAP® Sourcing OnDemand and SAP® Carbon Impact OnDemand solutions.
Customers Help Prioritize and Design New On-Demand Solutions
Three core principles dictate design of the new solutions. They are built with a focus on the way people work together, share information and exchange insight to get business results. They integrate with a customer's on-premise installation of SAP Business Suite applications to integrate business processes end-to-end. Most importantly, through co-innovation and design thinking development, they engage customers from the initial conceptual design throughout the entire life cycle of each solution.
"Customer co-innovation, together with agile development practices, allows SAP to develop more quickly and with greater certainty that we are meeting real customer business requirements," said John Wookey, executive vice president, Line of Business On Demand, SAP. "This is particularly important as we seek to address this new business area, in which every person, however involved in supporting and meeting sales and business objectives, is our intended user. With these new solutions SAP is responding to the way in which people work together today to solve business problems — anytime, anywhere."
On-Demand Portfolio for Diverse Lines of Business
The planned line-up of new line-of-business on-demand solutions includes SAP Sales OnDemand and SAP Sourcing OnDemand.
- SAP Sales OnDemand is designed for sales professionals, offering them easy and effective ways to collaborate with teams on opportunities, manage customer information in a smarter way and communicate effectively with people in their networks. It aims to help them access relevant and real-time knowledge and resources, and gain accurate insight into sales performance.
- SAP Sales OnDemand is planned for general availability during the second quarter of 2011. This solution will be the first in a new category of "people-centric" solutions from SAP and also the first to be built on SAP Business ByDesign.
- The existing on-demand solution SAP Sourcing OnDemand helps customers quickly gain business value in the areas of strategic sourcing, contract lifecycle management and supplier management. It helps users gain real-time visibility and greater control across the entire process of sourcing supplies.
- The solution also tailors sourcing and contracting processes to specific business needs, helping companies develop and establish a qualified supply base to optimize the overall value contribution from suppliers. SAP provides built-in support for best practices, training, support for sourcing events, user and supplier support, and key strategic sourcing enablement services. The next release, wave 8 of SAP Sourcing OnDemand, is planned for general availability at the end of the first quarter of 2011.
