Turkcell to Become "One-stop Shop" for Cloud Services with HP CloudSystem.

Turkey-based telecom company offers customized cloud service bundles to simplify procurement and usage for enterprise customers.

HP today announced that Turkcell is using HP cloud solutions to generate new revenue through “as a service” offerings to businesses.

Turkcell, with 34.5 million customers, is the leading communications and technology company in Turkey.

Turkcell is using HP CloudSystem Service Provider to provide its business customers with infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and communications as a service (CaaS). The new offerings are presented to customers in a customized, online marketplace.

With IaaS and CaaS, Turkcell business customers can take advantage of utility pricing and the flexibility of an on-demand services model. Benefits include more predictable operating costs, low capital investment and minimal risk in new technology adoption.

Specific services, such as email, can be easily enabled within HP CloudSystem Service Provider, allowing Turkcell to quickly enter a growing market with business-ready offerings and to achieve an advantage over would-be competitors.

A single software platform that can aggregate numerous as-a-service offerings, the HP solution gives Turkcell the flexibility to adapt quickly to market changes and customer needs. Turkcell can easily add new offerings as well as create customized cloud service bundles that simplify procurement and usage for enterprise customers.

“Turkcell intends to be the ‘one-stop shop’ for cloud-based services for businesses in Turkey,” said Ilker Kuruoz, chief information and communication technologies officer, Turkcell. “HP cloud technologies and expertise are providing Turkcell the ability to enter this market quickly, and the flexibility to deliver cloud services that are tailored for each customer.”

“To compete with rivals, communications service providers must use new technologies like cloud to build new businesses,” said David Sliter, vice president and general manager, Communications, Media and Entertainment Solutions, HP Enterprise Services. “HP CloudSystem Service Provider enables Turkcell to expand its enterprise business with as-a-service offerings that help its customers operate more efficiently.”

Turkcell launches IaaS and CaaS business

At a news conference today, Turkcell described its as-a-service offerings:

  • IaaS: Turkcell will provide businesses with on-demand access to state-of-the-art IT technologies for servers, storage and networking. Businesses can rely solely on IaaS from Turkcell, or use IaaS to augment on-premise IT resources for peak loads or activity bursts.

The IT infrastructure for the cloud services is hosted within Turkcell data centers and is managed by Turkcell.
  • CaaS: The HP CloudSystem Service Provider solution comes integrated with three core communications service families: messaging to increase productivity, collaboration to drive cooperation among remote teams, and business voice to automate and efficiently manage incoming calls.

Turkcell, in its first phase, will focus on the messaging services, offering email, calendar and contact management to business customers. These services are based on HP’s integration with Microsoft® Exchange 2010 and Microsoft SQL.
