Taiwan smartphone maker HTC said last week its unaudited first-quarter net profit almost tripled from a year earlier, driven by strong growth in handset shipments.
The Taiwanese company said in a statement its net profit for the three months ended 31 March surged to TWD14.83 billion (US$511 million) from TWD5.00 billion a year earlier.
Its first-quarter revenue more than doubled to TWD104.16 billion from TWD37.95 billion a year earlier.
