Samsung Set to Transform the Way People Experience Television with 2016 SUHD TV Lineup.

With SUHD, the ultimate in picture quality for any environment, Samsung takes Smart TV to a whole new level

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., the leader in home entertainment for over 10 years, announced the availability and pricing for its 2016 line up, including an entirely new Flagship model series – the KS9800, bringing a new meaning to Smart TV.
“Samsung has always been about the ultimate experience in Picture Quality. This year is no different. Our new SUHD models provide the brightest, most realistic color and clarity for every viewing environment,” said Dave Das, Senior Vice President, Samsung Electronics America. “What is new this year is our redefined Smart TV experience. We listened to our customers and made enjoying content the easiest it’s ever been.”

Experience the Excellence

Whether it’s SUHD, UHD or LED, Samsung delivers the brightest, most stunning picture quality, with richer colors and more dynamic audio than ever before.
Samsung’s SUHD TVs feature the world’s only cadmium-free 10 bit Quantum Dot Display, setting the quality standard of 1,000-nit HDR with the best and most vibrant color and contrast available for true-to-life picture and experience. The Ultra Black feature reduces reflections by absorbing light to help provide for deeper, richer blacks. This year’s Samsung SUHD line up meets the UHD-A’s Premium UHD certification program, which ensures consumers are getting the most premium experience from their UHD TV.
2016 SUHD TV – KS9500

Breathtaking Design

From curved and slim to the new boundless design edge, Samsung offers stunning design with optimum viewing. The new KS9500 features an immersive ‘360’ design that is elegant and looks beautiful from every angle.

Smart Just Got a Whole Lot Smarter

Samsung’s 2016 Smart Hub Interface takes simplicity to the next level.  The new Smart Hub Interface eliminates a lengthy setup process by automatically integrating set top boxes from cable providers like Time Warner, Comcast (coming soon), and satellite services such as DIRECTV (coming in June), as well as game consoles. Users can simply plug the STB into any HDMI port, and the TV will recognize the box and provider, as well as automatically set up the remote control to access and control the STB features – not just channel up and down, but DVR controls and other commonly used controls – without the user ever having to program or “teach” the remote. It’s the ultimate in simplicity.
It doesn’t end there. Now users can see and access their favorite content along the Smart Hub menu bar – not just the content provider’s logo, but actual programming. Scrolling across will bring up customized sources including streaming, Blu Ray, gaming, cable, and more, allowing users to “surf content” as though they were channel surfing. In most cases it doesn’t even require a log-in. If a user pauses a streaming program and exits to check the news, when they go back, the program is still right where they left off – no need to log-in and go deep into the app anymore.
It’s smart and seamless.

The purest UHD content with HDR available today

Samsung is the leader in providing customers with access to the most premium content. Whether it’s via streaming services, download services or over the air, it’s content at its best. Now Samsung is uniquely positioned to offer UHD HDR content in its purest form – Ultra HD Blu Ray. Customers can connect the K8500 Ultra HD Blu Ray to any SUHD via HDMI and enjoy the latest UHD HDR content from Hollywood Studios such as Fox and Warner Brothers.
The UBD-K8500 supports backward compatibility, upscaling existing 3D Blu Ray, Blu Ray to near-UHD quality. The player can also handle the next generation of home audio formats, including immersive, object-based sound formats like Dolby Atmos and multi-channel systems.

LG webOS TVs offer SkyNowTV support.

Francisco De Jesùs.

According to  pocket-lint    Sky's EPG is compatible with the LG webOS TVs from launch. That means that users can view Sky TV content from within the TV's WebOS menu and be able to control what they view using the LG remote.

One of the useful features in webOS is the ability to jump between inputs quickly and simply. A menu called Today pulls in a selection of viewing options from across apps like Netflix and Sky Now TV, online platforms like YouTube and live TV. So a movie, for example, will be displayed and users can then chose how to watch it, from Netflix or Sky depending on what a user subscribes to.

The TV should simply use Sky's online EPG data to show the TV guide on screen integrated into webOS. Then when a user selects a program the TV knows which IR signal that corresponds to and sends that to the Sky box. So from the user's perspective it's a seamless control interface that uses LG's Magic Remote gesture and voice controls.

Steve Jobs made two important comments about to make TV sets. Which one to believe?

Francisco De Jesùs.

Steve Jobs, the late Apple`s CEO made an answer and a comment about what he thinks over TV sets.

First Source: The Wall Street Journal's former Apple beat reporter, Yukari Iwatani Kane, has a new book about Apple called "Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs".

Yukari says in his book:

Every year Apple hosts a "Top 100" meeting, which gathers the top 100 executives, managers, and employees. As with all things Apple, the top 100 meeting is supposed to be secretive.

In that meeting, one person asked if Apple was going to release a television next. There were already rumors all over the place that it was Apple's next conquest.

"Jobs didn't hesitate." He said, "No."
"TV is a terrible business. They don't turn over and the margins suck," said Jobs. (Unlike iPhones which are wildly profitable and replaced every two years, a TV gets replaced every 8 years, and isn't all that profitable.)
He did want to control the living room, though, he said. He also said the Apple TV, the little video streaming box, would remain a hobby until Apple got all the content it needed.
Just months after Jobs delivered those comments, he stepped away from his day-to-day role at Apple.
Second Source: But, Jobs comments to Apple execs are at odds with what he told his biographer Walter Isaacson. Before he died he said:
"I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use ... It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud ... It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it."
Jobs was famous for saying one thing and then doing another. In this case, it's hard to know which quote was the truth. Was he telling the truth to Isaacson, or to his Apple's top 100 employees?
Yukari says that some people in room believed Jobs' comments on TV. Others, the "veterans in the room" weren't sure that Jobs really meant it. Those people thought it was a message from Jobs to focus on what they were doing instead of trying to think of the next thing too quickly.
It's been over three years since Jobs made those comments, and Apple still doesn't have a television. There's been reports this year of Apple revamping its TV strategy, but it all centers on the Apple TV, which is the little box that plugs into the TV, not a full, 60-inch HD iTelevision.
Therefore, it seems like Jobs may have been genuine when he told his top 100 employees he didn't want to do a television.
Which  Steve Jobs answer do you believe?

CES 2014: Hisense Releases Next Generation ULED TV to Compete with OLED TV.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

On January 8th, news from CES 2014 revealed that Hisense has officially released its next-generation "U-LED" Series 4K Ultra HDTV. The ULED product deploys Hisense's independent "scene engine" technology, with quality performance on par with OLED. Hisense ULED TV is scheduled for a roll-out in China by the end of February this year.
At the Hisense Booth in CES Central Hall, Hisense conducted a field performance comparison test between OLED TV and Hisense ULED TV, and invited appraisals from industry experts, soliciting heightened interests in the product among the audience. The product comparison showed that Hisense ULED has superior screen performance in scene details, with color reproduction and screen fluency comparable to that of OLED.
Hisense next generation ULED TV has applied scene engine technology, achieving a million-to-one image contrast ratio through fine backlight control and innovation in video image algorithms -- dramatically improving the color performance and speed of response, while bringing the quality of the LED video image to a whole new level. Hisense, through its independent innovative drive, has achieved a number of major technological breakthroughs in LED-backlit LCD TV, and has applied for dozens of Chinese invention patents. The company has already received two international patents.
Dr. Liu Weidong, who is in charge of Hisense ULED product development, revealed that in 2014, Hisense plans to further enhance and comprehensively promote the "scene engine" technology, and enrich the U-LED product line to meet market demand worldwide.

Video: LG webOS Smart TV Speech and Finger Gestures demo. webOS on blurays too.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

The LG webOS TV also works for Speech and Finger Gestures Recognition. For that the TV needs a camera. So LG will have models with and without the camera.

Without a camera will work only with the remote and with camera with both ways. But you can buy the camera separately.

The gestures are slick. You just raise a finger in the air and it immediately brings up an interface for adjusting the channel or volume simply by waving your finger. You can also bring your finger up to your lips to instantly mute. It is surprisingly responsive. Some of the higher-end TVs will come with built-in cameras for this. Others will require you to purchase the small camera separately, and while WebOS will be on some of LG's Blu-ray players, the voice and gestures will be limited to the TVs.
