Asustek Computer on December 11 launched its PadFone mini, a combination
of a 4.3-inch smartphone and 7-inch tablet, in the Taiwan market at a
recommended retail price of NT$11,900 (US$402) and aims to sell a total
of 100,000 units for a 10% market share in the segment of smartphones
priced at NT$10,000-(US$337.32) to NT$15,000, (US$505.99) according to the company.
The 4.3-inch smartphone is equipped with Android 4.3, Qualcomm
Snapdragon 400 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 960 by 540 ISP TFT-LCD touch
screen, 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM, 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel
front camera, dimensions of 129.27 (H) by 65.59 (W) by 8.68 (D)mm and a
weight of 105g. Micro-SD card (up to 64 GB),WLAN 802.11 b/g/n ,USB 3.0, Bluetooth V4.0, 3G : UMTS : 850/900/1900/2100, 2G :EDGE : 850/900/1800/1900, GPS, GLONASS & AGPS, 1500 mAh Li-Polymer.
The 7-inch tablet accessory is equipped with a 1280 by
800 IPS touch screen and has dimensions of 199.86 (H) by 119.45 (W) by
11.8-17.7 (D)mm and a weight of 310g.
PadFone mini is available for contract-bundled sale through Taiwan Mobile at NT$4,990( US$168.32 ) with a NT$898 (US$30.29) monthly payment.
