China: Asustek to launch Intel-based entry-level affordable ZenFone series in March.

Asustek will test the China, Southeast Asia and other emerging markets, offering its 4,5 and 6 inch  Intel-based entry-level ZenFone  smartphones series. Priced  for US$99, US$149 and US$199, respectively, unlocked.

The company plans to ship 10 million smatphones units in 2014 for a total of 6 ZenFones launchs in the year.

Asustek have to confront a tough competition like  the  China's top-4 handset vendors - ZTE, Huawei, Lenovo and Coolpad - all aim to ship over 50 million smartphones in 2014, while other second-tier brands including Xiaomi Technology are also ramping up their shipments.

Analyst said, Asustek should be able to ship at least over five million smartphones in 2014 compared to slightly over one million shipped in 2013.
