Altair Semiconductor (http://www.altair-semi.com), the world's leading developer of high-performance, single-mode LTE chipsets, today announced that it has partnered with M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTSI) (MACOM) and D2 Technologies to power the ASL-14331M, a new LTE gateway developed by Alpha Networks Inc.
The ASL-14331M pioneers a new generation of "Smart Home" devices,
offering broadband Internet connectivity. This enables Voice over LTE
(VoLTE) and smart-home functionality that allows for remote control and
monitoring of various appliances and sensors in the home.
The solution is based on Altair's award winning FourGee-3100/6200 LTE solution, MACOM's recently acquired Mindspeed® Comcerto® 2000 Application Processor, and D2's vPort GW 2.0 IMS VoLTE client software.
"Over the years, Alpha Networks has accumulated valuable experience
in networking design and development. Our exceptional capability in this
industry can be proven in multiple areas such as evolving network
technologies and diversifying applications," said Harrison Chang,
President of Alpha Networks.
"The ASL-14331M is capable of integrating
all home connected devices, and seamlessly connecting to cloud services.
It simply transforms any family's traditional gateway into a window to
the cloud and a hub of automatic controls. Alpha Networks is pleased to
work with Altair, MACOM and D2 to provide brand new home networking
solutions and create a diverse and convenient smart home environment for
users."
"This exciting product, which extends LTE Internet connectivity to
the home-control domain, demonstrates the types of innovation users can
expect to see as the Internet of Things (IoT) becomes a reality," said Eran Eshed,
Co-Founder and VP of Marketing and Business Development at Altair. "The
best-in-class performance and maturity of our single-mode LTE chipset
made it a natural choice for powering this innovative new product. We
are pleased to be part of this successful ecosystem collaboration."
"We are pleased to participate in this cutting-edge demonstration," said Laurent Hendrichs,
Director of Marketing, Communications Processors, at MACOM. "Our
Comcerto 2000 processors are well known for high-speed networking in
fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) routers. With outstanding Java performance, a
comprehensive set of security features, and an innovative power
management architecture, they are also ideally suited for applications
such as smart home and security gateways. Thanks to this new Alpha
Networks design, our customers now have access to a compelling platform
that will allow them to tap into the emerging LTE broadband and IoT
markets."
"We are excited to partner with industry leaders Alpha, Altair and
MACOM to develop a product that is at the forefront of VoLTE enabled IoT
connectivity," said Doug Makishima,
Chief Operating Officer at D2 Technologies. "This collaboration
exemplifies how D2's standards-compliant vPort 4G VoLTE software, with
proven interoperability with multiple operators, enables fast time to
market for VoLTE enabled Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and smart home router
CPE applications."
D2 Technologies' vPort GW 2.0 IMS VoLTE client software offers
broadband service providers a carrier grade, interoperable solution to
enable HD quality VoLTE in wireless client devices. The embedded client
is fully IR.92 VoLTE compliant and includes support for IMS session
initiation protocol (SIP), short message service (SMS) over IP, short
message peer-to-peer (SMPP), ISIM and USIM authentication and
registration, XCAP call supplemental services, and key softDSP voice
engine components such as voice CODECs, LEC, CID, DTMF, Fax and more for
FXS telephone ports.
The ASL-14331M will be demoed at Mobile World Congress at: Hall 1, Stand 1A18MR
Altair representatives are available to meet at Mobile World Congress in rooms 5L35MR and 5L38MR.
